Financial
Accountant
At CFOL, Financial
Accountants play a key role in preparing
reports, maintaining and improve reporting processes,
and assisting in the preparation of statutory
filing requirements. More specifically, a Financial
Accountant may be responsible for performing
the following functions:
- Prepare monthly management
reporting package and supporting documentation.
- Complete standard month
end adjusting account entries and payroll
integration with review of related liability
accounts.
- Reconcile general ledger
accounts monthly and resolve discrepancies.
- Review expenses for
reasonableness in comparison to the business
plan.
- Ensure adherence to
the financial reporting model and revamp or
streamline as necessary.
- Develop and maintain
the accounting software application.
- Provide supporting documentation
for quarterly and annual internal and external
audits.
- Assist in the preparation
of the annual income tax return and complete
other quarterly or annual statutory reporting
as required.
- Respond to ad hoc financial
accounting requests.
- Coordinate activities
with the department manager and other department
staff.
- Work with other departments
to ensure processes are efficient and meeting
internal standards.
Financial Accountants generally
require a Bachelor’s degree and a professional
accounting designation. Financial accounting
experience has been considered an asset. Financial
Accountants must also be skilled in analysis,
problem solving, decision-making, planning,
organizing, meeting deadlines, attention to
detail, and interpersonal skills. Experience
with computer applications is essential.
A Financial Accountant
in this role works closely with other team members
in the office. Depending on the position, they
may be required to perform work outside of regular
office hours. |
