Production Accountant

At CFOL, Production Accountants play a key role in filing government reports, booking all related revenue, and processing receivables for accounts. More specifically, a Production Accountant may be responsible for performing the following functions:

  • Ensure timely receipt, disposition and processing of field data ensuring that all reports produced are in accordance with government regulations. All data must be submitted by the deadline imposed by the government on a monthly basis.
  • Perform on-line data entry for operated accounting data into the general accounting system.
  • Provide coding, reconciliation and data input of accounting entries relating to revenue received at a property level.
  • Respond to internal and external queries either directly or through referral to appropriate parties.
  • Reconcile related receivable accounts which may require follow-up with vendors.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual gas cost allowance submissions.
  • Coordinate activities with the department manager and other department staff.
  • Work with other departments to ensure processes are efficient and meeting internal standards.

Production Accountants generally require a Certificate in Petroleum and Production Accounting and industry experience has been considered an asset. Production Accountants must also be skilled in analysis, problem solving, decision-making, planning, organizing, meeting deadlines, multi-tasking, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills. Experience with computer applications is essential.

A Production Accountant in this role works closely with other team members in the office. Depending on the position, they may be required to perform work outside of regular office hours.
