Engineer
At CFOL, Production
Engineers play a key role in monitoring
and evaluating current operations of oil and
gas properties and identifying opportunities
to improve production and lower operating costs.
More specifically, an Engineer may be responsible
for performing the following functions:
- Conduct feasibility
studies using pipeline and well modeling programs.
- Analyze production data
and well performance.
- Troubleshoot flow problems
in wells, flow lines and facilities.
- Recommend, plan, and
schedule production facility, well-program,
and tie-in projects.
- Manage costs by sourcing
cost-effective services and reviewing invoices
for appropriateness and accuracy.
- Meet with suppliers
to discuss products and their potential benefits.
- Coordinate production
activities with the department manager and
other department staff.
- Work with other departments
to ensure processes are efficient and meeting
internal standards.
- Ensure all work is done
and all facilities are running in compliance
with specifications of various regulatory
organizations.
- Analyze contract agreements
for operating areas, plants, etc.
- Maintain a high degree
of technical excellence within the required
skills in order to ensure that the best and
most cost-effective technical ideas and methods
are being used.
Production Engineers generally
require a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
and direct field experience has been considered
an asset. Engineers must also be skilled in
achieving results, negotiation, analysis, problem
solving, decision-making, planning, organizing,
and building relationships.
An Engineer in this role
works closely with other team members in the
office and the field and may be required to
visit field locations on a regular basis. Depending
on the position, an Engineer may be required
to be on-call or attend to emergencies that
occur outside of regular office hours. |
