Reservoir Engineering Technician / Technologist

At CFOL, Reservoir Engineering Technicians and Technologists play a key role in performing various reservoir engineering related technical and clerical duties. More specifically, a Reservoir Technician or Technologist may be responsible for performing the following functions:

  • Prepare annual production, operating and capital forecasts and monitor regularly for discrepancies.
  • Monitor production rates, and plan rework processes in order to maximize production.
  • Evaluate Independent Operations Notices (IONs) to determine investment potential and/or risk.
  • Oversee reservoir studies, pressure analysis, and economic evaluation of projects. Make recommendations on reserve bookings.
  • Prepare regulatory board applications and coordinate annual and initial pressure survey requirements.
  • Compile information for expenditure requests and provide recommendations to management.
  • Coordinate activities with the department manager and other department staff.
  • Work with other departments to ensure processes are efficient and meeting internal standards.
  • Monitor and approve joint venture billings and capital accruals.
  • Evaluate land sales, offers to purchase, and acquisition prospects.

Reservoir Engineering Technicians and Technologists generally require a Certificate in Petroleum Technology and industry experience has been considered an asset. Technicians and Technologists must also be skilled in analysis, problem solving, decision-making, planning, organizing, meeting deadlines, multi-tasking, and communication. Experience with computer applications is essential.

A Technician or Technologist in this role works closely with other team members in the office. Depending on the position, they may be required to perform work outside of regular office hours.
